Lincoln Continental Earns Top Safety Pick+ Award

The all-new Lincoln Continental recently was granted a Top Safety Pick+, the highest award possible from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), thanks to the vehicle's available crash prevention system and optional adaptive headlamps.

The Lincoln Continental, the Lincoln Motor Company's flagship sedan, features an available Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection system that has been designed to reduce the severity of -- and sometimes eliminate -- frontal collisions. The system makes use of radar and camera technology to deliver a collision warning to the driver, and if the driver does not respond in a timely manner, it can automatically apply to vehicle's brakes.

The vehicle's available adaptive LED headlamps earned a good rating for providing plenty of lighting on straightaways and most curves. The high beam assist feature automatically alternates between the low and high beams depending on the presence or absence of another vehicle.

In order to receive a Top Safety Pick+ award, a vehicle must earn good ratings in five IIHS crashworthiness tests, offer an available front crash prevention system that earns an advanced or superior rating, and headlights that rate as either good or acceptable.
